Plutonium Aerosol Informatics: Understanding, Communicating, and Managing Radiation Safety in Plutonium Science

摘要

Recent work to create a second edition of the classicPlutonium Handbook includes a new chapter on PlutoniumAerosol Characterization and Safety Issues. The chapterdraws heavily on historical studies including those reportedin the reference text Radioactive Air Sampling Methods (1)to provide information of practical value to researchers,technologists, radiation safety officers (RSOs), operationalhealth physicists, dosimetrists, managers, and regulatorsworking in the area of plutonium science. Using thatinformation to build and sustain effective management ofradiation safety in plutonium science requires a convergenceof disciplines (Fig. 1).
