Alpha Energy Spectrum from a Weapon’s Grade Plutonium

To the best of our knowledge and also surprise, thealpha energy spectrum from a thick sheet of plutonium (Pu)has not been reported even though some measurements havebeen carried out with high resolution detectors todifferentiate various alpha emission energies from ultra-thinplanar Pu specimens. Here we report our preliminary dataon alpha energy spectrum measurements from a sample ofdelta-Pu metal.
