摘要

A novel MAC protocol DCF++, DCF with Bi-directional Transmission, is proposed in this paper, to enhance the performance of TCP over IEEE 802.11 WLAN. IEEE 802.11 includes a basic access mechanism, Distributed Coordination Function (DCF), and an optional one, Point Coordination Function (PCF). DCF only supports the forward transmission from senders to receivers. DCF++ supports both the forward and backward transmissions from receivers to senders by means of a data-frame type defined in PCF, so DCF++ is absolutely compatible with IEEE 802.11. Simulation results show that DCF++ can improve the network throughput and decrease delay of data frames.
