The dynamic response of uranium-0.75%Ti and Ti-6%Al-4%V alloys was studied by in planar impact and reverse ballistic VISAR-monitored experiments accompanied by numerical simulations of the experiments and metallographic examination of the recovered samples. Both alloys exhibit susceptibility to shear localization although the differences in the parameters controlling the process result in the different shear morphology.
