摘要

Performance of a new system called multiple mass damper system (MMD) in mitigating the along-wind response of suspended bridges is the theme of the work reported herein. The effectiveness of this added mechanical system is investigated by modeling a bridge mounted by MMD. The bridge is exposed to simulated wind forces. The turbulence in the atmospheric boundary layer and the spatial correlation between wind force signals are taken into consideration. The results show the gain of using this system in reducing the response of the bridge to wind forces.
