Recovery of Molybdenum from Metallurgical Residues by Ultra-Fine Milling

Ultra-fine milling technology is used to recover molybdenum from residues. The aim of the paper is to investigate the effects of residue size, milling time, solid content, Na_2CO_3/Mo(molar ratio) and slurry pH value on molybdenum leaching rate. The results indicate that simple process, low slurry temperature, 50% shorter treating time, 60% decrease of Na_2CO_3 content and 15% increase of molybdenum leaching rate can be obtained by the ultra-fine milling technology compared with traditional process. Potential exists for the new process to form the basis for an economically viable, environmentally friendly process for the treatment of molybdenum residues.
