A two-stage cooking, soda/AQ followed by soda/oxygen, was investigated for pulping wheat straw. Effects of soda/oxygen stage variables (alkali charge maximum temperature. O_2 pressure and time at maximum temperature) on the black liquor characteristics (content of SiO_2 and viscosity of liquor etc.) were investigated.
