It was found that IF high strength steels (IF-HSS), which contain a certain amount of substitutional elements, exhibited a specific planar anisotropy of r-values, i.e. r_(0°) is smaller than r_(45°) and r_(90°). In order to clarify the mechanisms of this specific anisotropy, the influence of hot-rolling texture and cold-rolling reduction was investigated. The following results were obtained: 1) the specific anisotropy of r-values could be attributed to the mixture of a strong peak on the {554}<225> component and a weak intensity along the α-fiber, 2) a hot-rolling texture with a strong {112}<110> component enhances the formation of {554}<225> after recrystallization, which results in the specific anisotropy, 3) heavier cold reduction tends to promote the specific anisotropy and 4) the specific anisotropy in IF-HSS relates to the fact that the a-fiber of cold-rolling texture of IF-HSS is sharper than that of IF-mild steel.
