The microstructure and texture of sheet steel are mainly controlled by cold rolling and annealing processes. However, microstructure and texture before cold rolling also largely affects those of final products. The effect of boron on the microstructure and texture of hot rolled extra low carbon interstitial free (IF) steel sheet has not been made clear. In the present study, effect of boron content on microstructure and texture of hot rolled IF steel sheet was investigated using high speed hot rolling mill by which rolled specimen can be quenched immediately after rolling. Microstructure obtained by coiling simulation after hot rolling was also observed. The fraction of bainitic ferrite and <111>//ND axis density in quenched sheet increased with increasing boron content. In coiling-simulated sheet, ferrite grain size increased with boron content.
