Quantitative Study on the RD Capability in China's Nanotechnology

Based on 8208 nanotechnological papers covered by Tsinghua Tongfang's China Journal Full Database (CJFD), Used the method of scientometrics, this paper has shown the institutional and regional distributions of China's nanotechnology papers which draw the outline of R&D capability in Chinese nanotechnology during the period of 1994-2001. The characteristics of the distributions are that the institutions and regions related to nanotechnology research are scattered, the achievements, however, are highly concentrated. The definition of nanotechnology research in this study is derived from 79 keywords provided by the National Research Council of Canada.
