Vegetation modelling in terms of physiological and morphological characteristics,rnin connection with the local meteorological conditions, allows obtaining forecast of the dynamicsrnof the moisture contents of the different kinds of vegetation present over a wide geographicalrnarea. In addition, geographical and physical territorial information allow evaluating the behaviourrnof a fire in terms of the local physical characteristics of the fire front caused by a successfulrnignition. On such bases, it is possible to define a structure of a Decision Support System (DSS)rncapable of processing dynamic information and providing useful indications to assess the forestrnfire risk over a certain geographical area. Such tool can be useful in defining policies for forestrnassessment, and, above all, in preventive resource management.
