The stability of a foam or an emulsion relies on the stability of the individual films that separate the discontinuous phases, a subject central to surface and colloid science. Morevoer, many commercial processes and products rely on the fundamental interfacial interactions that take place in the thin-film region. Thus, a great deal of effort has been spent studying the dynamics and stability of individual thin-liquid films (1,2).
