OVERVIEW OF US NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM REGIONAL

Floods are a natural hazard which cannot be avoided or totally mitigated. Flood insurance programs such as NFIP is one of the possible approaches to manage and increase awareness and provide communication between the general public and government agencies. In addition NFIP is helping communities to be more prepared for flood disasters and their consequences. NFIP assist communities to reduce costs of flooding by adopting and enforcing floodplain management ordinances.
