Loss of life models for sea and river floods

摘要

In this article an overview is given of methods available in literature to estimate the loss of life caused by floods. The methods are described and applied to a case study to study their applicability for flood hazard determination in the Netherlands. Besides, a framework for the further research on loss of life modelling in the Netherlands is presented.
