SCADA system for pumping stations and treatment plants

The remote control center of Geneva Water Utilities was first commissioned in 1990 in La Coulouvreniere station. In 1995, the dispatch center was moved to the newly built administrative center at Le Lignon. The hardware has been partly renewed at this time. The dispatch center is used by the entire organization, not only for the operation of the installations but also for the management of information, allowing the optimization of the operation. Currently 65 remote stations distributed all over the Geneva Canton are controlled and monitored by one operator only. This article describes the selected concept for controlling and monitoring all the installations from the dispatch center.
