SURVEY ON COMPREHENSIVE MANAGEMENT OF POWER QUALITY IN ELECTRIFIED RAILWAY

Low power factor, harmonic current pollution and negative sequence current are three important problems in electrified railway. Many different schemes of reactive power compensation, harmonic current suppression and negative sequence current elimination are reported. It is proposed that the hybrid compensation of Static Var Compensator (SVC) and Active Power Filter (APF) is tendency of reactive power compensation and harmonic current suppression. On the other hand, negative sequence current problem become more pressure along with large using of AC electric locomotive. A co-phase traction power supply system based on a balance transformer and a balance converter is a better scheme of comprehensive management of power quality in electrified railway. It can not only resolve the negative sequence current problem but also can compensate reactive power and suppress the harmonic current by controlling the operation of the balance converter.
