Metal forming analysis of multi-step upsetting flange from pipe billet

摘要

It is difficult to get large-size flange from the pipe-billet whose thickness is over 1.5 times as thick as the wall thickness of the pipe-billet. In order to get the above flange, the method of multi-step upsetting flange is described in this paper. Multi-step upsetting flange process is simulated by FEM code DEFORM. The simulation results are analyzed and how to define step-length is explained.
