Stone Forest: the Legend behind the Scenery

Stone Forest is an extreme form of karst landforms composed of pinnacles and spires of up to 30 ~ 50m high and fretted with rillenkarrens. Compared to other similar karst landforms in the world, the Stone Forest Geopark of Yunnan is unrivalled in the multiphase complexity of its evolution from middle Permian to the present. The park is regarded as the "museum of carbonate peak forest" because it contains almost all representative pinnacle karst types. The park is also known as the "model of garden art" due to its exceptional natural beauty.
