This paper describes a new magnetic measurement technique to analyze the magnet properties of Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnets. This technique uses an automated capacitor discharge magnetizer (CDM) and two additional probes. The results of this technique are compared to data generated by a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and the values of remanence, normal coercivity, and maximum energy product are within 2% agreement. The technique is advantageous in that it can be performed with little training and approximately half the equipment costs than with traditional methods.
