Realizing the value of intormation through Value Added Services The Indian Scenanio

In developed countries, the telecommunication was taken fon granted as a key factiorin economic, social and commercial qotivities, while the situation in developing countrieswas very different. As a result, value added services are becoming a habit in the developed world, it is still a noveltyfor the average Indian user whose use of telecom is mostly limited to telephone and fax. But not anymore. The telecommunication scenario in India has started changing. Now India has nearly a dozen computer-communication networks offering a wide range of services to different sections of the community. The changing telecom scenario has brought the capability of making a veru fundamental change in the life of people. This paper attempts to show the increasing nealization of the value of information in India by presenting an account of the present telecommunication scenario and the available value added services in India.
