Horseradish peroxidase(HRP) are a group of heme-containing hydrogen peroxideutilizing enzymes that act on a wide variety of substrates and have diverse biological roles. At least 30 different HRP isoenzymes have been identified from horseradish root. It is divided into at least five groups of isoenzymes, the acidic HRP-A, the neutral and slightly basic peroxidases, HRP-B, -C and the highly basic peroxidases, HRP-D, -E. The different peroxidase groups vary in their carbohydrate content, the acidic group having the highest carbohydrate content, the neurtral group having a lower carbohydrate content and the highly basic group having the lowest content of carbohydrates.
