Nickel base superalloys Hastelloy X~(~R), Nimonic~(~R) 90, IN-713C, IN-100, GMR-235 and IN-718 were processed by Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) using a polyacetal binder system and catalytic debinding. Homogeneous microstructures with high density were obtained using pressureless sintering as well as hot isostatic pressing (HIP). The room temperature mechanical properties of the MIM alloys are superior to the equivalent cast alloys and, for some alloys, even equivalent to wrought alloys. Although high temperature properties still have to be evaluated, it can be anticipated, that MIM presents a viable and attractive alternative for the manufacturing of components for automobiles (e.g. turbo chargers), aero engines and stationary gas turbines.
