摘要

During the last few decades a remarkable research interest in conventional titanium alloys containing small amounts of boron was observed. This composition promotes a beneficial microstructure refinement. Surprisingly little work has been performed on the effect of boron addition in Ti-6A1-4V alloy produced by MIM to produce materials for biomedical applications. Powder metallurgy, more specific Metal Injection Moulding (MIM), is a net-shape process that can be easily applied in order to get a discontinuously reinforced composite with a homogeneous microstructure at a relative low cost. This paper aims at clarifying the influence of boron addition on the mechanical properties and osteoblast adhesion and proliferation of Ti-6A1-4V-O.5B alloy fabricated by MIM technique
