By splitting the synthesis process into 3 steps (1. Synthesis of silica nanopartieles, 2. Incorporation of additional elements e.g. Ca, 3. Functionalisation) it enables functionalised, monodispersed nanopartieles of various compositions to be produced for a variety of applications.
