The pyrolysis of pinewood sawdust in continuous mode and in-line catalytic steam reforming ofvolatiles have been carried out in a conical spouted bed reactor and fluidized bed reactor, respectively. The influenceof temperature (in the 550-700 ℃ range), space-time (between 0.03-0.42 gcatalyst h gbiomass-1) and steam/biomass massratio (between 2 and 5) on the conversion, distribution of products and their composition has been studied. In order toconvert the bio-oil into hydrogen, a commercial Ni reforming catalyst has been used in the second step. Thetemperature has a positive effect on conversion when it is increased from 550 to 600 ℃, although above 600 ℃ theinfluence is not significant. An increase in the space-time from 0.03 to 0.42 gcatalyst h gbiomass -1 has a positive effect on conversion and H_2 yield, while lower CH_4 and light HCs yields are obtained. The same trend has been seen whensteam/biomass mass ratio is increased from 2 to 5, obtaining higher H_2 and CO_2 yields and lower CO, CH_4 and lightHCs yields. The catalyst activity decreases with time on stream, due to the coke deposition in the catalyst surface.
