The lack of a full understanding of the interrelation between technical and operational capabilities of digital electro-optical sensors, technical and operational abilities of acquisition systems, dynamics of airborne platform and other factors leads to insufficient and inappropriate use of these new systems. In this work identification of one airborne remote sensing system whose main part is an electro-optical sensor with 3 x CCD RGB/CIR configuration will be presented. The aim of identification is to define spatial and radiometric characteristics of such system for airborne use. The first part of identification process is determining system's Modulation Transfer Function (MTF). The second part is determining influence of various operational parameters such as height, speed, geometry and atmosphere on the MTF in order to develop a sustainable and useful model of the system which will be helpful in estimating system's operational capabilities.
