The corrosion of aluminum in trichloroaceticrnacid (TCA) containing xylenol orange has beenrnstudied. In plain TCA, the corrosion raternincreases with the acid concentration. Atrnconstant acid concentration, the inhibitionrnefficiency (I.E.) of xylenol orange increases withrnthe inhibitor concentration. At constant inhibitorrnconcentration, the I.E. decreases with thernincrease of acid concentration. As temperaturernincreases, percentage of inhibition decreases.rnPlot of log (θ /1- θ) versus log C results in arnstraight line, suggesting that the inhibitors coverrnboth the anodic and cathodic regions throughrngeneral adsorption following Langmuir isotherm.rnThe curves show very little anodic but significantrncathodic polarization.
