Supply Chain Management goes RoHS The Need to Include Compliance Related Information in the Supply Chain Information Flow

Supply Chain Management (SCM) developed to a central and strategic concept in companies. As such it provides a holistic plattform for the exchange of information along the complete supply chain or network. Independently of economic considerations, SCM systems prove usefull too, if viewed as containers for alien information as for example environmental data. The RoHS (Restriction on the use of certain hazardous substances) forces companies to report their compliance for every single product targetting the end consumer market. This article adresses the substantial differences between manual and automated compliance processing and the usefulness of an already existing SCM system.
