摘要

Land filling is one of the methods used for solid waste disposal. The aim of this paper is to identify and evaluate the governing factors on land fill site selection, and to describe the methods of analysis for proper land fill location, decision making and the benefits of using GIS environment. Aa a case study "Chahardangehh" city has been selected to evaluate the candidate locations. The data used include topographic maps, land use maps, geologic, surface hydrologic, underground water and meteorological data. All these data are combined together on a commercial GIS to locate and visualize the selected site. In this study one landfill site has been selected according to binary overlay method and environmental considerations. Besides, weighted overlay is used in a larger area to show that which site can be more suitable for landfill. This study can be used as a model for the other cities of country.
