This research carried out wastewater treatment tests in a filature factory by using moving bed biofilm reactor. After moving-bed start-up experiment, simultaneous nitrification and denitrification process in a single representative cycle was analyzed, and the effect of C/N on wastewater treatment was studied. The results showed that 21 d after the start-up experiment the removal rates of CODCr and NH/-N stayed above 80%. This indicated the success of the start-up experiment. When the concentration of DO was around 3.0 mg/L, simultaneous nitrification and denitrification occurred in the reactor. Through modulating C/N by adding in methanol, the removal rates of NH4+-N was above 93%. With the rise of the C/N, the removal rates of TN were also increased. When the C/N was 10, the maximum TN removal rates can reach 88.6%. However, when C/N increased to 12, TN removal rates no longer increased but stabilized at around 84%.
