Ground water remeiaiton at a former manuafactured gas plant superfund site

Ten years of ground water investigation and remediation activities at an Alliant Energy Corporation former manufactured gas plant U.S.Environmental Portection Agency Superfund site are reviewed from both technical and regulatory perspectives.Activities have included monitoring well installation and samplign,ground water modeling,ground wate rextraction,onsite treatment using clarificaiton and activated carbon,an in-situ bioremediation pilot study,and a long term ground wate rmonitoring orgma.A recent investigation is used to re-evauate ground water conditions and to compare the results to past assessments and modeling.,to assess the effectiveness of the ground wate remediation rpogram,and to make recommendations relevant to future investigation and remediation activities at the site.
