In this paper, a new approach based on reference stress approach is proposed for non-linear fracture mechanics analyses (elastic-plastic and creep fracture mechanics) of circumferential and axial through-wall cracked pipes under various loading conditions for LBB analysis. This new approach is currently incorporated in R5 and R6 procedures in UK. Following a brief introduction of the new methodology, detailed non-linear fracture mechanics analyses of through-wall cracked pipes under various loading are presented. Both numerical and experimental validations are provided to show confidence of the proposed method.
