Hangzhou Bay Bridge (IBC 07-23)

The Hangzhou Bay Bridge located in southeast of Yangtze Delta, the most vivid economic zone in China, connecting Shanghai in north end, Ningbo in south, Hangzhou in west and Zhoushan islands in east in Zhejiang Province. It will shorten the travel distance from Shanghai to Ningbo by 120 km forming a two-hour driving network of Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo. The total length of this bridge is 36 km. Once completed, this bridge will be the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world. Due to the particular natural conditions and adverse construction environment at Hangzhou Bay, such as wind, wave, tide and current; the design was dominated by construction methods and workability. Total cost of project is RMB11.8 billion Yuan ($1.4 billion dollars). Construction will be completed and open to traffic in 2008.
