Design change: problem or opportunity

摘要

Most academic research identifies engineering change as a problem. hoowever, it might be argued that engineering change is the essenital "engine" for incremental product improvement, which is necessary if products are to remain competitive in the face of advances by comperitors. Although many researchers have carried out in-depth studies of one or two companies, there have been very few studies of larger numbers of companies in order to prepare aggregated data. The authors completed an investigation of 24 manufacturing companies in the United Kingdom to establish their concerns, methods, and management strategies in regard to engineering change.
