摘要

Camber is one of the very important design parameters in the manufacture of railway coaches. Various issues related to the design of camber has been studied in detail using finite lement method. The wleding of the sidewall to the undeframe plays a crucial role in the determination of true camber. A comprehensive finite element analysis has been carried out to address this issue. It has been brought out in this study that the camber vaue arrived at by conventional method is not accurate and a correction factor is equired. Also a complete finite element analysis of railway passenger coach shell has bee done incorporating tis true camber.
