Machining micro holes which diameters are less than 1.0 mm by electric discharge machining, EDM, electrodes tend to consume hard and machining time becomes longer. It may be caused by the difficulty of chip exhausting from the holes, and then the chips remained in machined holes induce the lower machining efficiency, electrodes consumption and lower machining accuracy. Preventing the lower machining accuracy and efficiency, machined chips have to be exhausted smoothly. From such a viewpoint, an electrode, which has a pathway for machined chip exhausting, is proposed. And the effect of this pathway to machining performance is experimentally discussed.
