UMAR aqueduct: Success story of a geotechnically difficult and forbidden project

Sometimes in civil engg. practices many a situations arise, where geotechnical investigations render a site either unsuitable for construction or suggest the complete abandoning of the project. Lack of geological knowledge and the interpretative attitude may confuse a geotechnical engineer who is guided only by the test result. This paper highlights that the geologist and the geotechnical engineer must look in a different way at the interpretations and should not always be guided by the test results.
