Conventional wisdom would say that cross-linking of polymers will always enhance the thermal stability of the polymer since there will be additional bonds that must be broken in order to permit the escape of volatililes from the material. In this paper we will show that this is not not always correct, simply increasing the number of bonds which must be broken is important but the identity of these bonds is also of importance.
