This paper focuses on IS check-up, the evaluation process consisting of the identification of possible IS malfunctions, the detection of their causes, and the identification of proper actions to be undertaken. A new model, specifically developed according to SME requirements, is proposed and described in detail. The model refers to a process-based view of the organisation, requires qualitative evaluations and involves a limited number of organisational roles. It is based on the analysis of strategic, organizational and technical information concerning the company as well as data regarding the industry it belongs to.
