Disposal of Agricultural Waste in the Field and Rhizosphere Mycoflora of Peanut

In India cowdung and other crop wastes are used to prepare farmyard manure. This manure is used as soil fertilizer in crop field. Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) was sown in the farmyard manure prepared from agricultural wastes treated soils and rhizosphere mycoflora was studied at different growth period till harvesting. Similarly peanut cake was also used to amend soil. Use of agricultural waste gave higher mycofloral population than that of peanut cake both in the rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soil. R/S ratio were also higher as compared with non-treated control soil. A total of 52 fungal species were recorded. But their number was less in agricultural wastes treated soils. Among the fungal species Aspergillii sp. were highly increased both in the rhizosphere and soil. Aspergillus fumigatus and A. carbonarius were very high in their population due to agricultural wastes, while Rhizopus stolonifer and Fusarium oxysporum were more in the peanut cake treated soils. Penicillia, on the contrary were highly reduced. On the rhizoplane peanut cake the number of organisms was significantly reduced. Only five species were recorded as peanut raised in non-treated soils. The potential pathogens were however eliminated from the root surface of plants raised in peanut cake treated soils.
