The biennial Beam Instrumentation Workshop (BIW)rnand the also biennial Workshop on Beam Diagnostic andrnInstrumentation for Particle Accelerators (DIPAC) arernevents for the exchange of the latest advances in the fieldrnof beam diagnostics and instrumentation to measure andrnanalyse particle beams in all kinds of particlernaccelerators. This talk will review and summarize thernmain topics presented in 2006 and 2007 at these twornmajor international workshops in this field. Generalrninstruments as well as very special topics will berndiscussed to give a comprehensive overview of state-of-the-rnart beam diagnostics around the world.
