The aim of the present work is to develop a semi-analyticalrnbeam transportation code which can calculaternthe spatial distribution of radiation quality in a substancernfor heavy-ion therapy. The beam transportation coderndeveloped here is based on an elemental pencil beamrnmodel where the spatial distribution of radiation qualityrnfor an elemental beam is calculated and superposedrnaccording to the emittance ellipse of the narrow heavy-ionrnbeam determined at the entrance of the target. In thisrnpaper, we show the calculation procedure used in therndeveloped code in detail. Furthermore, as an example,rnthe three-dimensional distributions of dose, LET andrnfluence are calculated for a mono-energetic narrowrncarbon beam of 290 MeV/u.
