摘要

Aeolian vibration is a common type of wind-induced vibration of conductors in Australasiaand is known to have caused fatigue damage of conductors. Aeolian vibration was recordedon a series of transmission line (66kV) conductors, which seemed to have vibration problems,in Canterbury Plains, New Zealand. The lines have been newly constructed and are not fittedwith vibration dampers. The bending amplitude near the suspension clamp, which is anindicator of dynamic bending stress of conductor at the suspension clamp, was recorded.Majority of the recordings taken in this area have shown the bending amplitude has exceededendurance limit, which is recommended by EPRI. Based on the findings and laboratory testdata of vibration dampers, it is recommended that vibration dampers be fitted on theconductors and vibration be recorded to confirm the performance of vibration dampers.
