The Latest Technology for On-Site Insulation Condition Assessment of Electrical Power Apparatus

This paper introduces the latest technology for on-site insulation conditionassessment of electrical power apparatus. It describes why the newinstrument, Polarisation Depolarisation Current (PDC) Analyser, is the bestdiagnostic tool in this new era. Various properties of electrical insulation arediscussed for power transformer. The details how to identify and localizeinternal insulation problem are included. All examples given in this paperare based on actual results of PDC analysis performed in this Asia-Pacificregion. Some examples of PDC analysis for other types of electrical powerapparatus are also given but the focus on this paper is on a powertransformer, the most expensive equipment in a substation.
