The Canadian Light Source synchrotron uses an extraordinarily wide range of intense beams ofrnlight to investigate materials. By its very nature, the facility is able to perform a multitude ofrnexperiments, from investigating the surface of a nanotube, to imaging through an aerospacerncomposite.rnIn this paper we give examples of how this light can used to non-destructively test a multitude ofrnmaterials. Examples include 2D imaging of turbine blades, 3D imaging of aerospace composites,rnnanoscale chemical and structural analysis high performance battery materials, and fundamentalrncharacterization of new light metal alloys. A series of synergistic complementary techniques willrnbe presented, each with examples in the aerospace and energy industries, demonstrating therncomprehensive information gained by combining these techniques, and how they can be used forrnproduct development as well as troubleshooting.rnWe also give information on how to gain access to this suite of techniques for academic andrnproprietary research.
