Recently the atmospheric pressure gradient forcing hasrnbeen implemented in the oceanographic model used inrnthe Mediterranean Forecasting System datarnassimilation scheme. Experiments show that there isrnan impact on how the temperature and salinity isrnupdated in the assimilation when the ocean model isrnforced by the atmospheric pressure gradient. It is,rnhowever, necessary to perform longer data assimilationrnexperiments to quantify the impact on the quality of thernMFS analyses of the state of the Mediterranean Sea.
