Global change deals with large- and small-scalernprocesses that modify the Earth’s atmosphere, land andrnocean. Using innovative geodetic space-borne sensorrnsystems, dedicated gravity field and altimeter satellitesrnmonitor these processes over a range of spatial andrntemporal scales. The integrated analysis of theserngeometric and gravimetric Earth observation data shallrnimprove the knowledge of system processes of thernchanging Earth. A few case studies elucidate the role ofrnsatellite geodesy in Earth system science.
