In situ measured data in June, August and Septemberrnof 2005 and MERIS, MODIS remote sensing data andrnnumerical simulation model ECOMSED were used torndescribe the spatial and temporal patterns of thernsuspended particulate matter concentration in thernBohai Sea. The remote sensing retrieval model of CSPMrnwas validated by field data. The percent average errorrnis in the range of 24.9%~34.2% for the Bohai Bay andrn22.3%~25.1% for the Laizhou Bay model. Thernaccuracy of MERIS retrieved CSPM is quite well.rnECOMSED simulated results quite well agree with thernfield measured and MERIS retrieved CSPM. The windrnspeed has a delayed effect on the SPM concentration.rnThere is a significant seasonal cycle in the interannualrnchanges of Bohai Sea SPM concentration. The C_(SPM) isrnhigh in winter and low in summer.
