The buildings fire protection is presently an essential topic for scientific investigations because of possible unwanted events that can occur inside industrial plants, large public buildings or transport facilities, such as fires, explosions, toxic releases, etc. Even small incidents can seriously endanger life, goods and environment. Particularly, fire and smoke spreading in large buildings represents a terrific threat that can be studied using computer simulation to diminish its severe effects. Based on realtime measurements of the major airflows inside the building, we developed a fast and interactive instrument designed for smoke/fire spreading investigation in large buildings. The core of this method is represented by two interconnected cellular automata with adaptive transition rules.
