摘要

The 80m high dam at the Peribonka river in the Canadian province of Quebecwas designed for the generation of 385 MW of hydro electrical power (Fig.1).The complex ground conditions required the employment of a variety ofgeotechnical construction methods stretched to limits never experienced before.Innovative grouting and trenching techniques were used for the construction of aplastic concrete cut-off wall down to a depth of about 116m; to cut hydraulicseepage through alluvial deposits forming the dam foundation.The bedrock where the cut-off wall is embedded forms a glacial gully with steeplysloped flanks; which created further challenging conditions.
